With the exciting site re-design this week, there just wasn’t enough time to do a proper TGI Friday Tech Deals. But this jumped out of my inbox… Hollywood now cross-promotes… with…. anti virus software.

Anyone seen the movie yet? Maybe there is a scene with ludicrous Norton Antivirus product placement. Like at the top of the Eiffel tower or something? Someone photoshop that up and we’ll post it.

The Chef says: At under $0.11/GB you can’t beat this amount of storage for these prices. I do take issue with the 1.5 TB Iomega, and much prefer the 1 TB Western Digital brand. One factor to consider is the slimmer profile of the Western Digital as well as the fact that it is ruggedized.

Flash Drives

Kingston 16GB DataTraveler 120 USB Flash Drive Price with shipping: $30.76	SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Micro U3 USB 2.0 Flash Drive – 8 GB – USB – External Price with shipping: $21.01
The Chef says: I really like the slim sleek style of the San Disk Cruzer on the right. Both drives have retractable dongles so you won’t lose the cap, also it attaches easily to a keychain (The Kingston does not). However for 10 bucks more you get double the capacity and a 5-year warranty with the Kingston 16GB.

Software

Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student 3 User Price with shipping: $69.99

Acronis True Image v.9.0 Price with shipping: $21.48

The Chef says: Please tell me you’re not still using Microsoft Works… for $70 (retail $150!) jump on this while you can. Everyone you send an attachment to will thank you. Right next to it, I love Acronis for backing up my PC. It’s stupid easy to do, and if the worst should happen, just pop in the CD/USB it makes for you and your computer is SAVED! Or you can select the folders and files you want to back up.
